Mercury’s Lyre ☿️ Bracelet or Anklet.

Mercury’s Lyre bracelet or anklet is made with Peridot stone. The story goes, that on the day of Hermes birth, (otherwise known by the romans as Mercury) he left the cave to discover a tortoise. He used the tortoise shell, reeds, an ox hide, and strings of sheep gut to make create the Lyre. He later that day went on to steal 50 cattle from his half brother, Apollo by luring them from their heard. Once caught and brought to council Infront of Zeus, Zeus found the story vey funny and decided not to punish Hermes, instead just requiring him to just return the stolen flock. But Hermes felt regret over what he had done (seeing as how he sacrificed 2 of the cattle, and reversed all of their hooves, then to only return to his cradle and act like a helpless newborn), so, to offer his apologies he gifted Apollo, the god of music, the Lyre he had invented. Then, to repay Hermes kindness, Apollo gifted him the famous Caduceus Staff Mercury is known for wielding.

Peridot has associations with the planet Mercury. Peridot in ancient times was said to keep away evil spirits. Known for releasing and neutralizing toxins of all the mind, body, and spirit. Releasing the debris of the past after the psychological work has been done. Peridot shows us that releasing the past lightens our load and is the best way forward. Dethatching us from outside influences and using our own guiding light. Similar to the concepts the Hermit tarot card, representative of the Mercury ruled sign, Virgo. Major Arcana Number 9 in a traditional rider Waite tarot deck. Peridot alleviates jealous, resentment, spite, and anger. Aiding in reducing stress. Helping to sharpen your mind and have compassion and love for yourself, your past, and healing journey, to now move forward into your own destined path. Similar to the themes of the tarot card, The Lovers, making the free willed choice to move freely while (the Feminine) looking to guidance from the angel depicted on the card. Letting both your spiritual guidance and self you have constructed from past experiences guide you into the new. Green is also the color of Love in spirituality. Peridot can also help one take responsibility for their life course where needed to be able to release, manage, and move on. While making this I realized a lot of associations to Virgo, and Gemini are in divinations of 3. As well as the traditional ruler of the 3rd house and 6th house being Mercury. So I have evenly spaced 3 Swarovski pearls among the bracelet to represent the numerology and divinations of 3. Which is a very powerful divination, as Nikola Tesla is rumored to have stated: “If you only knew the magnificence of the 3, 6, and 9, then you would have a key to the universe.”

The goal of these accessories is to help ground you in the moment, releasing all weight of the past, to feel as if you have just began over again as a new born, similar to Hermes, and to protect your healed state as you go forward into a new beginning.

The use of the Swarovski pearls is inspired by the Santeria beads my Abuela use to wear, and I was so fascinated by as a child. Counting how many beads there were before the single off colored bead, trying to find a correlation, or meaning behind the numbers, colors and spacing.
